Hole Description
Brandermill’s opening dogleg right Par 4 is one of Richmond’s tougher starting holes. The fairway bunkers straight away are a safe miss but will leave you with a mid to long iron to a well protected green that slopes back to front.

Hole Description
A short Par 4 but still a challenge. Driver off the tee will give you a downhill lie inside 100 yards. The small turtle shell green makes for a difficult read and can make it hard to hit it close on the approach shot.

Hole Description
Our first Par 3 plays about ten yards downhill. Beware of your club selection because the out of bounds long left has claimed many golf balls. A wide but shallow green that works from left to right sets up perfect for a left to right shot shape.

Hole Description
The first Par 5 and first of many risk reward tee shots. The more you cutoff left the shorter the approach shot, however, watch out for the trees and out of bounds on the left. Right off the tee offers a generous bailout area, long hitters can bring the penalty area beyond the fairway into play. A good tee shot here gives you a great chance at birdie with a large two tier green staying below the hole is key.

Hole Description
Two Par 5’s in a row? Yes that is correct! Another reachable Par 5, a good tee shot up the right side will leave you in an ideal position to get home in two. The approach is no easy task with a pond short and right of the green, bunker to the left and beyond, and a large guitar pick shaped green sloped back to front.

Don’t let this short par 4 fool you. The left bunker comes into play and will leave you a difficult mid-iron up-hill to a green with a lot of slope, the fairway slopes left to right and can bring the woods and hazard into play for a tee shot leaking right. Missing short left of the bunker you could be blocked out by the big tree up the left side. With a false front and a 2 tier green this hole can turn into bogey very quickly.

Hole Description
This Par 3 we call the bermuda triangle of greens. Many golfers have been tricked on this downhill par 3 as the large green has more slope from left to right than the eye perceives. Anything long and right can lead to trouble with steep slopes running away from the putting surface.

Hole Description
The Par 4 8th features a daunting tee shot with tall pines lining the teeing grounds, out of bounds right and a creek down the left side of the hole. The fairway leans right to left and with some subtle mounding in the landing area can sometimes lead to a tricky lie. A fairway in regulation is just the start of this hole as the slightly elevated green is well protected by bunkering short and left and features a very undulated putting surface.

Hole Description
From the tips this is a true test of power and precision closing out your front 9 with a beautiful par 4. One of the more generous landing areas on the course, sloping left to right, favor the right half of the fairway to avoid being blocked out by the pine groves. The only green on the course not protected by a bunker.

Hole Description
The back 9s opening par 4 10th is a straight forward hole with water down the left side and penalty area down the right.  Less than driver off the tee for a long hitter will leave you with a short iron into a well protected green from the pond and bunker short. Long will spell trouble as the green slopes hard from back to front.

Challenging mid length par 3 guarded by a creek down the left side, knowing the pin position and hitting to the correct part of the green is your only chance at birdie as the green features some of the more difficult reads on the course.

One of the longest holes and smallest greens on the course, the first Par 5 on the back 9 features an up-hill tee shot to a generous landing area. The green is in sight on the approach but well guarded by the left tree line and bunkers short and right, favor the right side of the fairway on your second shot to leave a clear view and flat lie into the small oval green sloping back to front.

Hole Description
This downhill par 4 required a pinpoint drive with a visually intimating tee shot and narrow landing area in the fairway protected by bunkering on both sides. Second shots into a narrow green will yield a makeable birdie putt on one of the more tame putting surfaces on the course.

Hole Description
Brandermill’s signature Par 4 14th is a breathtaking risk-reward hole. Choose your tee shot wisely as the layup on the right side of the pine grove will leave a wedge or short iron into the deep but narrow green or go for the gold from the tee box, a 250 yard carry from the men’s tee will leave you in prime position for that coveted eagle roll.

Back to back visually breathtaking holes the par 3 15th follows the Swift Creek Reservoir. The tee ball is an all carry shot with the multi-terraced green situated just a few paces over the bulkhead. A green in regulation is only half the battle because of a tough to read sloping putting surface.

This hard dogleg left par 4 needs a right to left shaped tee shot of less than driver as the fairway runs out straight, but don’t go too far left as your ball will catch the creek running down the left side.  Your second shot will be uphill to a very small landing area that slopes hard from back to front and a bunker protecting the left side of the green.  Hit this green and you will have a short birdie putt.

Another great risk-reward Par 5 down the closing stretch. A well placed tee shot will leave you with a great chance of getting home in two but be mindful as the small green is well protected by bunkers short right and left and the green features some of the biggest slopes on any of the Brandermill putting surfaces.

The home hole at Brandermill is a dogleg right tee shot with out of bounds lining the right side of the hole and bunkers strategically positioned on both sides of the fairway. An accurate drive will give you a green light to attack with a short iron to a left and right bunkered green where putts can be made to finish your round in style.
